Words from DaVinci

Quotes from Leonardo da Vinci:

•  "Once you have flown, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return."

•  "As every divided kingdom falls, so every mind divided between many studies confounds and saps itself."

•  "Anyone who invokes authors in discussion is not using his intelligence but his memory."

•  "As a well-spent day brings happy sleep, so life well used brings happy death."

•  "Where the spirit does not work with the hand, there is no art." "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."

Genealogy on a Wall

“Family faces are magic mirrors … we see the past, present and future.”

In August 2008, I was visiting a lovely Virginia home and espied this sepia portrait collection arranged upon a wall next to their staircase. So I made a poster with my portrait of their “genealogy wall.”
